Beauty School Skills: Keep Glitter From Spreading

Glitter spreads faster than any type of cold or flu, especially when it is applied as makeup. Glitter on cheeks, on arms, and especially on eyeshadow easily falls off and attaches to clothes (both of the wearer and innocent bystanders). There are, however, a few beauty schools tips by Beauty Schools of America www.bsa.edu that can help prevent the spread of glitter. Be a good citizen, don't spread the glitter everywhere you go.

Beauty School Skills: Keep Glitter on from the Start

When applying glitter, it is absolutely essential to have a base of some kind. In fact, it is essential. A base that offers a bit of an adhesive or even tacky base can help keep glitter in place. This is most important when applying glitter to eyelashes. Sometimes, products that are creamy or that are highly tacky can help as well, but a base with adhesive properties is the best idea.

Just a couple of examples for such bases, particularly in correlation with eyelash glitter, include Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy and Too Faced Glitter Glue. For an extra tip, many of Too Faced products are of beauty school quality. Since the price is minimal, experimenting with such products is pretty much a win win situation. When applying loose glitter, make sure to consider a glitter adhesive like Lit's in order to avoid spreading a trail of glitter behind you.

Beauty School Skills: A Gentle Touch

A gentle touch when it comes to applying glitter is incredibly important. Being a bit more subtle with glitter is required. Less is most certainly more. Once the glitter is applied to the brush, make sure to lightly tap the brush towards the glitter jar (or palate) in order to release any extra glitter. Next, do not apply harshly with a swiping motion. Instead, try to gently and slowly pat on the glitter to your base. If you follow these directions, there should be much less glitter loss.

Beauty School Skills: Don't Get Glitter Dandruff

Having glitter fall all over you is likely not the goal you had for applying that glitter. Want to know a way to avoid it that will cost you nothing? It sounds pretty easy, but it is quite effective. When applying glitter, simply take a piece of paper or a business card and place it underneath the area of application. This should catch most stray glitter quite quickly and give you an idea as to how much more base is needed.
