My Beautiful Golden Omega Timepiece
I was in garden at the back of the house when I noticed someone knocking on the front door. A FedEx van was parked in front of our house when I peeked out of the window. I also saw a man bearing a package for me. I signed for it and tossed it on the side table nearest the door and went back to my gardening chores. I had completely forgotten about it as I went about my chores. I remembered about it as I was already preparing to turn in for the night.
Opening it was not a priority right now. But when I did find the time to open it, a letter greeted me. Reading the letter was a second priority, and excitement turned to surprise when I tore the bx open. I found an Omega wrist watch inside that was for me. When I read the letter, I was so touched. My uncle wrote that he was very happy that I became a doctor. He now is able to fulfill one of my aunt's last wishes. My aunt wished to leave her watch to the first female relative to become a doctor. Me becoming a doctor is like fulfilling a long time dream of hers. Now, the Omega watch is mine.
I looked at the watch closely. And I looked it up in the internet for vintage ladies Omega watches. I discovered that mine was one that was made back in 1926. My watch is made with a nine carat rose gold. I have come a long way, I now proudly own a gold watch. The dial is jet black. My watch also has gold numbers. The sub-seconds are done in golden hues even. When I looked at it again, I noticed that it is still running perfectly. It was then that I figured out that what I got was an heirloom. It was the most priceless gift I have ever received.
My interest was piqued on who made my watch. The company is based in Bienne, Switzerland. It makes beautiful and luxurious timepieces. Precisely for these reasons, a lot of companies and organizations have chosen Omega as their official timepieces. In 1917, the Royal Flying Corps of Britain chose Omega as watch provider for its combat units. In 1918, the American army had also selected the company to provide its official timepieces. Even the first watch on the moon was an Omega watch. Famous personalities also wear an Omega. Those among the list are: U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Prince William, and and astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
Omega became connected with James Bond when Pierce Brosnan became the actor who took over the role in 1995. He wore an Omega Seamaster Quartz Professional for the movie GoldenEye. Daniel Craig, the present James Bond actor, wore an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean and an Omega Seamaster Professional 300M for Casino Royale. For the Quantum of Solace movie, Craig still wore an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean but some other model. Omega released a commemorative edition during the 40th anniversary of the James Bond franchise in 2002. The company also released limited edition watches in connection with the movies Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
