All About Mrs. Millman
Where I've Been
I was born and raised in Westbury, NY. I even attended Drexel Avenue School as a 6th grader. Most of my time was spent right here in the same time you are all living in now!! As a teenager, I had a job at the local stationary store. The store is no longer there, it is now our most favorite pizza place, Gino's Pizza. I decided to come back to Westbury as a teacher, because here is where my heart is and will always be!.
My Life as an Educator
I have been a teacher for 15 years. One year as a NYC public school teacher in East NY. The remaining 14 here at Drexel Avenue. I have taught grades 3-5 and 1st grade. Of all these, 5th grade is the most exciting. I enjoy the curriculum and age level the most! My most favorite lessons have always been centered about projects that infuse social studies and technology. The final products always make me happy because the students love working with computers to learn. Computers really make for engaging students.
When I'm Not Working...
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. Our family is very fortunate to live on Long Island. We get the best of all the seasons and enjoy many activities together. Our most favorite time of year is summer. Summers here are so much fun. Between pool hopping and beach hopping, it passes way too quickly where we always wish for just a few more days! Winters are fun too. We enjoy taking weekend trips to the mountains of NY for skiing and tubing fun! Living here keeps us very busy.
