Introduction

Hi! I’m Alexandra and I am currently a Freshman here at Sweetwater High School. I am also enrolled in a Web Publishing course being taught by Mr. Lopez. In this class, we are learning the basics of computers and how to design and publish web sites onto the web. This project that I am doing is going to give good information about the endangered species the Manatee, and the habitats they live in. My endangered species project is about Manatees. I chose Manatees, because of my interest in wondering why they are endangered.

Introduction: The Manatee

baby_manateeManatees are sometimes called sea cows, and their languid pace lends merit to the comparison.Despite their massive bulk, they are graceful swimmers in coastal waters and rivers. Running themselves with their strong tails, manatees glide along at 5 miles an hour but can swim 15 miles an hour in short bursts. There are three species of manatee, distinguished primarily by where they live. One manatee population ranges along the North American east coast from Florida to Brazil. Other species inhabit the Amazon River and the west coast and rivers of Africa.
