Selection And Fitting Of Slipper Baths For More Comfortable Life

A slipper bath is can be defined as a traditional bath having an overflow and a plug at one of its end. The head end of a slipper bath is at a higher level from its foot end. Slipper baths are also known as roll top baths as the bath’s edge has a kind of profile which is helpful in approximating a section from a circle’s circumference. The slipper baths that are manufactured nowadays usually have tap platforms. Tap platform is basically the foot end area flattening out in such a fashion that taps can be mounted on the edge and the tap holes get drilled inside the bath. Those slipper baths that usually lack holes in the globe taps and doesn’t have a tap platform, it is highly recommended to have either wall mounted or floor mounted taps.

Floor mounted taps are to be supported on standing pipes which cover the pipes with a gold framing or a chrome asit is sturdy enough to support the complete weight of the tap.Pipe shrouds are generally used in those cases when the taps are mounted over the bath’s edge which provides an attractive cover to the chrome water feeds but does not support the weight of the tap. These are unlike the stand pipes which provide a support to the weight of the taps. Pipe shrouds are generally telescopic in nature such that they easily fit in the height of the slipper bath.

Slipper baths are usually made up of acrylic, cast iron and stone-cast resin. Acrylic polymers are considered to be synthetic polymers made up of methyl methacrylate, similar to fibre glass. It is light weighted, cheap, strong, non-porous, robust & easy in manufacturing and mending. There are two skins of acrylic being used up for manufacturing a slipper bath which results in strengthening the base as well as the body. Stone cast resin is the combination of limestone and resin, the main advantage of it being its strength and inflexibility. The other advantages of stone cast resin slipper baths are the ceramic touch, smoothness and the easiness with which it can be mended.
