Albert Muenzer served over three years in the armed services during WWII, and after the war with Germany, he obtained a transfer to the newly forming GI Symphony just outside Paris, France. Several month later, after returning home to Chicago, Al, as he is called by his family and friends, joined the musicians union and began his career playing Broadway shows in Chicago and symphony concerts around the states of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. He eventually became concertmaster and feature soloist with the famous bandleader, Wayne King, the "Waltz King," with whom he toured the United States. During the four years Al was with Wayne King, he appeared on the weekly television Standard Oil Show starring Wayne King.

In 1950, Al became a member of the staff orchestra of the Central Division of National Broadcasting Company in Chicago. He has appeared on radio and television as soloist on several occasions and was high on contractors lists in the making of commercial recordings. During the following sixteen years, Al played with the Milwaukee and Waukesha Symphonies in Wisconsin and the Tri-City Symphony in Davenport, Iowa, just to name a few, all during the time he was with the NBC staff orchestra. He delighted in his phrase: "Have Fiddle, Will Travel."

Shortly after the demise of staff orchestras all around the country in 1966, Al was asked to become Assistant Concertmaster of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Having accepted that position, he was also offered a part time teaching position at Sam Houston State Teachers' College and, in addition, also became a member of the Lyric Art String Quartet. Three years later, he was promoted to Associate Concertmaster of the Houston Symphony and, at the same time, left his position with Sam Houston to teach part-time at the University of Houston.

In 1977, Al was asked by Milton Katims, (1909-2006), at the time the School of Music director, to apply for a full-time faculty position with the University of Houston. Al had been concertmaster of the Houston Ballet Orchestra  for about three years but resigned due to their touring. He could not justify being away from school that often. The Houston Grand Opera appointed Al as concertmaster, holding that position for 20 years. He was also concertmaster of the American Pops Orchestra (formerly the Houston Pops Orchestra), the Texas Chamber Orchestra and the J. S. Bach Society of Houston. In 1998, Al resigned his post with the Houston Grand Opera for a more leisurely existence. In May 2004 he retired from the University of Houston Moores School of Music but continues to teach privately at his home studio.

Mr. Muenzer also specializes in teaching Orchestral Repertoire & Techniques. Those who want help in auditioning for a position in orchestra, or for those who just want to learn orchestral excerpts and how to play in such a group, will find his knowledge from vast experience very beneficial.
