Waltz Of The Maple Leaf
A diminutive finch
perched upon the branch
of an antiquated maple tree.
A mediocre foul
searched for a bite to eat
in the ripened growth next to me.
An insignificant sparrow
desperately pecked
at a tiny whole above.
An insulse bird
regrade a lush leaf
from the arm of my shady love.
A mindless foul
flinched and fluttered,
but only stared at me.
An act of understanding
made the sparrow
drop the leaf in my hand.
A warm summer breeze
caught the leaf,
and it soared across the land.
A lively wind
grazed the peace,
and it soared across the land.
