GIMP 1.3.12 Released
A new development version of The GIMP is available from ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v1.3/v1.3.12/ or one of the mirrors. This release features lots of cleanups to GIMP internals such as the undo system and the tools framework. New plug-ins (psd-save and spheredesigner) have been added along with a display filter that simulates color-deficient vision. The text tool has been improved and support for large swap files (>2GB) was added.

GIMP 1.3.11 Released
The latest development version of The GIMP can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v1.3/v1.3.11/ or one of the mirrors. This release features some incompatible changes to the gimprc file format. If you installed earlier versions of the 1.3 series, you are adviced to remove your ~/.gimp-1.3 directory and do a fresh user installation.

GIMP 1.2.4-pre2 available for testing
Many bugs have been fixed in the stable version of the GIMP (1.2.x) while the active development is taking place in the 1.3 series. A pre-release version is available now for testing (also from our mirrors). This is not the final 1.2.4 release yet, so it should not be included in any larger software distribution. But if you want to contribute to the development effort, please test this version and use Bugzilla to report any bugs.

GIMP Development Version hits the Big 1-0
GIMP version 1.3.10 has been released. In addition to many tweaks and bugfixes, this is the first release in the 1.3 series in which Python scripting can be enabled. As with all GIMP releases, 1.3.10 can be downloaded from your favorite mirror. Happy bug hunting!

GIMP 1.3.9 Released
The latest development version of The GIMP can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v1.3/v1.3.9/. Please remember that this is an unstable version, so save early and save often.

GIMP 1.3.8 Released
In a tremendous effort to continue the series of release announcements on this news page, version 1.3.8 has been made available at ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v1.3/v1.3.8/.

GIMP 1.3.7 Released
Unfortunately the 1.3.6 tarball had some problems and we decided to do another release to address these. ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v1.3/v1.3.7/ has the new tarball as well as a patch to update from version 1.3.6.

GIMP 1.3.6 Released
The 1.3 saga continues. Episode 6 just appeared on ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v1.3/v1.3.6/. Please don't push our new disk to its limits and try one of the mirrors instead. Keep in mind that this release is a development version that might crash any second, so don't use it for real work.

www.gimp.org recovers after disk crash
We experienced a disk crash two weeks ago. Most of the site has been restored from the backups and updated as necessary, but some updates may have been lost. If you see any broken links, please report them to Bugzilla as described on the webmasters page.
