GETTING THERE:

Direct flights from Paris (1 hour) and many European cities to Strasbourg and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airports. By train from Paris to Strasbourg is 4 to 5 hours. By car, autoroute A4 Paris-Strasbourg is about 4 hours.

CLIMATE:

Summer, hot on the plains with thunderstorms, cooler in the hills. Spring, crisp and luminous. Fall, crisp, clear Indian summers, some fog. Winter, cold, with abundant snow on the Vosges Mountains.

Strasbourg is located right in the heart of Eastern Europe, just 275 miles from Paris. Strasbourg became French under Louis XIV.

 

Food and Wine: French’s very famous national dish choucroute, known to had originated from the Strasbourg region. Choucroute is made of smoked ham, sausages, and potatoes and is served with wine or beer. Strasbourg wines include Gewurtztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, riesling, sylvaner and Tokay Pinot Gris. 

 

Activities: Cycling, mountain biking and hiking are some of the activities you can do in Strassbourg. There are also river and canal cruises, walking tours and hot-air ballooning if you like to sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you like to shop around,  regional pottery, fruit jams, kitchenware, Alsatian fabrics and linens are some of the best  buy in Strasbourg.

Most festivals are from February to September. These festivals feature light shows folklore parade, dancing, horse racing, and floral float in the Sélestat and Turckheim.
