My
first occupational calling in life was to be a cartoonist, with one or more syndicated comic strips. Problem was, even though I loved to draw, I was no humorist (couldn't write a joke or create a gag) and besides, I was only 12 years old!

So
, as it happened, syndication wasn't in the cards for me, but I did sell a few cartoons to my grandparents. In fact, I set them up with paid subscriptions-by-mail!

Alas, this led to neither fame nor fortune. But it was perhaps a contributor to my continued fondness for animated TV shows and TV cartoons, even in my adult life.
