Jungle Town
Jungle Town

Picture courtsey of Pam Bray. Thank you, Pam!

"I wish I had the names of all these people, maybe if we work on it together we will put names to faces. The picture was taken in Jungle Town 1931, Fort Lyon. Emma Maude Bray is the first one on right with her son David in front of her."
Pam Bray

The sixth man from the left, dressed in a dark jacket is my grandfather, William Huston Cunningham. The first woman on the left in the front row is my great-aunt, Florence Pool Treat. I have a photo like this one in my "collection". Trudy Cunningham De Vries

"Bill - Jungle Town was a community between the Arkansas River and my grand-parents home which was the last house on the right at the end of 15th Lane. - - I think that is what it was called. The lane ended at the Arkansas River. There was a dirt road that went from Fort Lyon to the old Dairy Barns and on to the barns which were quite a distance behind my grandparents house. I remember my Dad taking me to see the Holstien Bulls that were in pens. They were HUGE, as I remember. My grandmother Cunningham spent many hours with us walking around the foundations of the homes (that is all that was left during my life-time). She would tell us all about the life that used to exist there.- Trudy"
