Heritage Relic ( Heritage Grand March x Tri Acre Ruvinsdream)
| |||
1994 14.3 Dark Dappled Flaxen Liver Chestnut Mare.
Relic is the grand old dame of our farm. This Serenity Marchtime granddaughter has been with us since she was six months old. She has done it all. She rides english, western, saddleseat, and drives. She has been trail ridden, hunter paced, jumped, and shown. She has won a grand championship and raised two foals for us. She is an excellent mother and an even better friend. Relic is the very first founding mare of our broodmare program. She really is the heart and soul of Skyland Manor. There are no words to express how much her companionship means. There has never been a time when Relic has been for sale and there never will be. We do hope to breed Relic again in the near future but even if we never get another foal from her she has done us and the breed a great service by producing two fantastic fillies. Relic's offspring can be seen here . *Photo by Sasha Gubanov taken 10/2010*
Relic has always be an in your pocket horse. She calls to us when she sees us even if its not feeding time. You can tell she truly enjoys simply spending time around people. She passes this friendly and willing disposition on to her offspring. She really stands out in the field to people because she is an odd sort of color. When she shed out her baby coat she appeared to be black with a very blonde mane and tail. As she matured her coat color became less black and more the color of cocoa. Her mane darkened and when looked at closely it appears to be strands of every horse color imaginable from black to white and grey and blonde and brown, etc... Genetically she is really a dark liver chestnut with a mixed flaxen mane and tail. We think she may carry the sabino gene as both her fillies have roaning, detached spots, and blazes that wrap around to their chins. We know she carries the flaxen gene because her first filly has a vivid blonde mane and tail. *Photo by K. Rother*

This is our go to lesson horse. She has given countless lessons over the years from terrified beginners who swore they would never ride a horse to experienced riders who want a responsive mount. They all dismount smiling. She is a pleasure to ride and to watch. She has wonderful suspension and fantastic hocks. Her favorite gait is the trot where she can slow down to a walking pace or speed up to a road trot that has won many a hack class. We really can't imagine life without Relic. Every day we are grateful for her. She's our best girl. Plus she has a wealth of wonderful old Morgan bloodlines from Funquest, Skyloft, Mildann, Lippitt and UVM. She can boast of Vigilmarch and Serenity Marchtime as well as Ruthven's Nancy Ann. *Photo by K. Rother taken 7/2010*
