Lucy Bradley watched closely as her father, Doc Josiah Bradley (Or to Lucy Doc) stitched up a wound on a Pony Express rider's shoulder. Doc told Lucy the boy was going to be fine the bullet had passed through and he hadn't lost much blood.
"Lucy dear, go tell the young man's friend he will be fine." Doc said as he began bandaging the wound. Lucy did as she was told.
"Sir," she said to a dark headed boy who had earlier introduced himself as Jimmy.
"Is Cody gonna be alright?" He franticly asked the St. Joseph nurse.
"Doc says hes gonna be fine. To let him rest here a few days. Or he said if you need to leave soon I should go with you. To take care of your friend of course." Lucy said.
"Well as much as I hate ta leave for he can rest, we're do back tomorrow night."
"Good, I'll go along to tend to your friend during the trip to your station. Come by for us in the mornin."
" Yes ma'am, but can I see my friend? " "Oh, Yes of course sir."
"Jimmy."
"Excuse me?" "My names Jimmy. " Lucy smiled brightly. "And I'm Lucy." Jimmy smiled back and went to see Cody.

The next morning at 6 am Lucy began pack her instriments for the trip. She vowed to herself she would become a doctor in Rock Creek. Even if she was a woman.
