In the Shade of the Green Dragon Inn

Just some quick updates (or the want thereof):

  • ye olde stomping grounds (the Seminary) I was told was on the market, apparently [from Yvonne Shanklin]; "We have listed the place for sale -- a bittersweet notion" ... and there is there an update:   No luck on selling the old place but the paintball business is definitely growing fast!  One of the alum is helping me seek investors for that and in the long run this will perhaps be the means that justifies!
Doing paintball would not have been my number one choice but if it saves the place for now so be it.

  • Boromir is a grandfather ... perhaps twice over; his daughter Meriah and her husband blessed him with their first child -- James Robert Frost -- at the beginning of last year; they were expecting their second child in June
    • it's August ... no communication, yet, on this ...
    • anyone heard anything?
  • Boromir experienced a mild stroke, moreover ... caused by high blood pressure -- [from their Christmas letter] -- "We were very blessed that he recognized the symptoms and got good medical care quickly ... so his prescription is to work only 40 hours a week and get into very good physical condition ... he is heavily involved in national committees preparing mental health policy/plans for responding to terrorist attacks ... .

I got back onto the national disaster team by passing the stress test with flying colors - the doctor finally turned off the treadmill because he was getting bored...

I'm doing workshops for the Centers for Disease Control and the Army, and have final meetings of our committee developing recommendations for the federal government's response to terrorism. ...   I'm actually pretty excited that I spent part of the summer in Japan and Thailand doing some instruction and consulting. May spend some more time in Asia if they succeed in finding the funding.
  • Frodo continues to play his guitar ... and teaches.  "I've only done my Whitman show a couple times this past year, but I just got an article about my experiences published on an online Whitman journal."
