this
can be an adventure! |
|
Certainly,
it is an invitation to touch base
-- to bring the rest of us up to speed ... to tell us a good story ...
|
||
| I raised my
sons -- albeit, sometimes, somewhat foolishly -- on tales of the
Fellowship ... not merely of elves and dragons and dwarves and kings ...
but ... too, of marble quests and buried mold and sword duels atop the
gymnasium
it felt like that, in early October. In Donaldson. Celeste and I enroute to Kendallville IN ... for a storytelling gig at the Kendallville Apple Festival. Brightly coloured leaves. Rain. And a breeze that was honed to a razor's edge. We were on 30. We were going that way. We turned right at the Ancilla Domini sign. Donaldson. Over the tracks ... we almost missed the sign; I've already forgotten what it said. I remember only No Trespassing ... and something about guard dogs that I reasoned was more huff than puff and stuff |
||
| I tried to get permission. | ||
| I stopped by
the old Brother's House ... but the two women who lived there spoke no
English. They were polite --
All right ... they were a little bit scary We drove down the road anyway |
