Lord Lew Grade

Lord Lew Grade's involvement with The Muppet Show brought Jim Henson and company all the way to England, where the show was produced.
"The first time I saw Jim Henson was when he guested on one of my 'Julie Andrews' TV shows. I was so struck with his originality and humor that I arranged to meet him to see if he would do a TV series for me in England. He told me he had tried to get his own TV show in the States but without successs. I there and then decided that we would make twenty-four half-hour shows in our Elstree Studios.
"The atmosphere and excitement during the making of these shows was electric, and in a very short while we had international celebrities clamoring to do the guest spot in his show.... The productions were such fun that it hardly seemed like the hard work it obviously was, because everybody enjoyed it so much.
"Jim and I became close friends and made several thearical movies together. I shall never forget his quiet charm and total dedication to his work at all times."
