Jasmine's Shrine to Myth and Magic

Part II Part III

For all my life I have been an avid believer in things that other people scoff off as "mythical" , there is a world out there where all things are possible. Perhaps if we had not lost so much innocence in this world of voilence and mistrust, more of us would be able to see such things. This is just my small tribute to the world that is, was and always will be beyond the rainbow of reality.

Cora & Alikia

I can't remember where I found either , but I extend my thanks to the site owner and sincerly apologize if I am accidently breaking any copyright laws. Cora and her sister, Alikia are tropic seas beauties. Cora lost her true love ,a human sailor, in a ship wreck possibly caused by sirens, in the tropics and mourned him by turning his death site into one of the most incredable oceanic worlds in the universe. Alikia, her younger sister, carries on her legecy in her kindess to every form of life

The Myths of The Merfolk:

Cora is no where near alone, there are hundreds of stories like hers. Thousands are familiar with the tale of the Littest Mermaid in one form or another. And the average ancient sailor never went on a voyage without the fear that he might be destroyed by rocks when called by the voice of the alluring mer-folk and their un-kind kin the Sirens. No one is sure how these myths arouse, or what caused them to countinue in folklore so long after their inception. In the words of Robert Jordan "Facts become legend, legend fades into myth and even myth is long forgotten by the time the age that gave it birth comes round again."
Exactly how much have we forgotten?

Emma

OK , so maybe most people don't regard angels as "mythical", but li'l Emma here is just so adorable that I just had to put her somewhere! And I figures she'd be most at home here.

Angels Amoung Us:

Emma and her kin are with us more than we care to admit. Here one of my many favorite angel stories:

Stacey, a woman in her late twenties , lived in the poorer side of Brooklyn NY, in an area with many tenants. One night when she was walking home Stacey saw a man ahead of her, loitering against a building. Stacey had an immediate feeling of fear , for there had been some recent muggings in the neighbourhood and she sensed the man was up to no good. But she had no choice--the only way to her apartment was to pass him.
"Guardian angel protect me." Stacey murmered. "Be right beside me now and save me from harm."
With an outwardly confident stride , she looked straight ahead and went by the man. She could feel him looking at her, but he did nothing. It was all Stacey could do to keep from breaking into a run, but with her heart pounding , she managed to countinue walking calmly until she reached the corner. Then she raced the rest of the distance to her apartment building , ran up the stairs and breathlessly locked the door behind her. It took her awhile to calm down, for some reason she felt she had escaped a great danger.
A short time later, Stacey heard police sirens and , looking out her window, saw flashing lights. Something was going on nearby , an accident or another mugging.
The following day, she saw a neighbor. "What was all the excitment about last night?" Stacey asked.
"A rape." The woman told her grimly. "Just after 6 o'clock."
Stacey's mouth dropped. The rape had occured on the very spot where she had passed the loitering man, just
before 6 o'clock. What if he was the rapist? She had gotten a good look at him. Perhaps she could help the police with a description.
When she phoned however, she discovered that the police already had a suspect in custody. "Would you like to try and pick him out of a line-up?" A policeman asked her. "Your testimony could help place him at the scene."
Stacey agreed. That night she identified him as the man she had passed on her way home.
"Why didn't he attack me?" She asked the policeman. "After all, I was as vunerable as the next woman who came along"
The policeman was also curious and agreed to describe Stacey to the rapist and ask if he remembered her from the night before. Stacey didn't ever forget his answer.
"Sure I remember her." The rapist said."But why would I have bothered her? She was walking down the street with those two big guys, one on either side of her."

Stacey had been alone that night.

They are there when we need them, do we give Emma and her kin the credit they deserve?
