Other No Friends Interviews
1. What is your name, how old are you and how long have you been in
Blood for Blood?
I'm Mike "Cap'n" Mahoney and I'm 23 and I've been in BFB since day one
which
was June of 1994.
2. Where are you from and where are the other members of BFB from?
I'm from Boston just like everybody else in the band. Go Redsox!!
3. What bands have members been in prior to BFB?
For Erick, Rob and myself this is our 1st real band. Ian used to be in
Polyglot from Portland, ME.
4. How long has BFB been a band?
We've been togther for 5 years now.
5. Has the line up always been the same?
We've had 3 other bass playes but Ians been the best and hes been in
the band
almost 2 years.
6. Do you like touring in the states or europe more?
I like touring period. Its what I do, its my job and I love it. The
US is
only better because its the best fuckin place in the world. Everything
is
what I'm used to and if the tour gets canned its a lot easier to get
the fuck
home.
7. What are your favorite bands to hang out with / tour with?
Well we have had really good experiences with all the bands we've
toured
with. Recently, we just toured with FEAR which was awesome. They
still rock
after 20 years of doing this shit. We always like playing w/Madball,
Skarhead, Earth Crisis, Murphys Law, Ducky Boys and Straight Faced. We
hang
out with a lot of people some in bands and some not.
8. What are your biggest influences?
We all draw from many different elements but for me I'm really into
Social
Distortion, G-N-R, Sheer Terror, Madball, AF, old Biohazard, Raw Deal,
Bad
Religion, AC/DC, Dropkick Murphys, etc....
9. What bands did you listen to as a kid and what bands do you listen
to now?
When I was growing up I was pretty much the only kid at school into
heavy
music. I started with Aerosmith and AC/DC to Metallica/Slayer/Sabbath
then
to Wrecking Crew, Slapshot and Sick of it all and then I was just
totally
hooked on hardcore. Now I'm back to listening to more rock/punk shit.
10. What is your favorite BFB release?
I like them all because each one represents a very different time for
the
band but I'd have to say the new ep just because its so fresh for me.
Its
cool to get away from the old shit for awhile and play some newer
songs.
11. Did you change your style at all for the up coming "Living in
Exile" album?
Somewhat I think we did. We definitely found our sound on this record.
The
past releases all had different styles on them which I think is cool
but on
this ep I think all the songs flow together. The ep is more punk than
our
previous stuff but its just as mean and has more attitude than anything
we've
done before.
12. i heard you guys were featured on the Motorhead: Bulit for Speed
tribute album, what song did you guys do and why did you choose the
one
you chose?
We did Ace of Spades. I know most people think thats the cheesiest
song to
pick but we did it because we new some many people would be familiar
with it
and most importantly we knew we could make it into a BFB song.
13. Are you currently happy on Victory Records?
Yes, very much so. A great bunch of lads over there.
14. Do you like playing shows in the New England area?
We like to play anywhere as long as there is beer and lots of kids.
15. What type of band would you consider yourselves?
White Trash Hardcore Rock-n-Roll.
16. What is your opinion of the U.S. government?
Next ? not what this band is about. Go ask bands like Converge
questions
like that.
17. How do you feel abou the laws against underage drinking and
smoking?
Ya need to have laws to protect the innocent but I'm a firm believer
that
laws are meant to be broken.
18. Do you have any advice/ comments to any young bands tring to make
a
go of it?
Find your scene, your niche and do it balls up. Don't hold back and
don't
follow trends.
19. Any final comments to the people?
Lookout for our new Ep, "Livin' In Exile" due out on June 29th. Sounds
from
the streets on the eve of the apocalypse, white trash hardcore
rock-n-roll.
Its for the Wasted Youth, White Trash, Rejects, Outcasts, and all the
enemy
of society haten fools out there. BUY IT and tip your bartender.
