Freddy's Dead-The Rewrite:Scene One

We open on a teenaged girl[NANCY THOMPSON] and an older woman[MRS. DELANEY] talking. It is one year after Nancy fought Krueger for the first time. She is 16, but looks much older, due to heavy bags under her eyes and a gray streak on the left side of her hair. She has obviously been through a year of hell. Mrs. Parker is a pleasant looking woman with an obvious sweet disposition. There is an obvious friendship between the two despite the age difference. They are talking over a cup of tea

Tell me more, Mrs. Delaney.

About what Nancy?

Nancy
About his life, about his family. About him.

Mrs. Delaney
Well, his mother was a beautiful young nun named Sister Mary Helena. Before she became a nun, though, she was known as Amanda. Amanda Krueger. I grew up with her. She was always dedicated to the church, it was obviously her dream to become a nun. So she did. But then…[trails off]

Nancy
Then what?

Mrs. Delaney
She was volunteering her time at the insane asylum near Christmas one year. But somehow, she was locked in over the holidays with a hundred of the worst crazies ever known. There were rapists, murderers, and child molesters. By the time they found her they estimate she was raped at least a thousand times. She was pregnant with the bastard son of a hundred maniacs.[Pauses]

Nancy
What happened after that?

Mrs. Delaney
Well, back then abortion wasn’t much of an option, plus her strict faith prohibited such a thing. But I can tell you, if ‘her faith’ knew what a monster she was pregnant with, they would have made her abort, rather then let such a thing run loose in the world. She had the ‘baby’ gave it to the orphanage, and went back to her convent.

Nancy
So he grew up in the orphanage?

Mrs. Delaney
He was put into foster care and was given to men almost as bad as his fathers. They would beat him and rape women as he was forced to watch. He began killing animals. Finally when he was 16, his mother had him put in a juvenile shelter. But when she would go to visit him, he would beat her. Once he even raped her like his fathers. I visited her in the hospital and she made me promise not to ever tell anybody about that. Well, he was released at 18 and he had odd jobs for awhile then at the age of 24, he raped a woman whom he had been living with named Loretta. She had the baby and gave it to the orphanage and left town. She never came back. The baby was adopted out and has since been fine.

Can you tell me who, who his child is?

Mrs. Delaney
> I can’t tell you that, I promised the family who adopted the child that I never would tell.
