September Thoughts

September 5, 2002

Well I've got alot to catch up on with only a few days of material to think about.
I had my Third Annual Camping Party (this year including my birthday into the mix - which was so much fun I might add it in another year as well). We had a blast - all 15 or so people we were. There was no drunken catastrophes - only catastrophes resulting from drunk people (or just clumsy people). The broken pool, the screen the next day, the swim in the broken pool, the many Smirnoff Ice drunk that night ... total number about 20 bottles in all ... ("And this party is sponsored by ... Smirnoff Ice!!), the "bon feu", the bizarre behaviour of a certain person, the "dance", some crazy pictures (here I'll take your picture" "it's the wrong way ..." *FLASH* "Aww my eyes!!!" "You're a dumbass you know that?")... all of which came out by the way. I picked up the pics today ... ;-) at least the first film.
I got some pretty great gifts - lots of candles, and an amazing CD which I have to listen to soon ;-), as well as some great Cheesecake Birthday Cake provided by the Cheesecake Queen ;-) Now who was it who had 4 pieces? Hmm .... and we thought he only ate health food HA!!
Following that was a night in the tent again ... frozen slightly, but now I've had my camping experience quota until the next camping party.
My first day of school on the 3rd turned out to be a complete disappointment since my ONLY class was cancelled and it only started at 4:15PM ... I travelled in so early and for nothing!!
Wednesday I had no classes at all ... my day off for the whole semester ... and I got to experience homemade Indian food. I have no idea any of the names of the food that I ate, but there was some good rice and something like Pita Bread that was good as well as some radioactive green potatoes that were tasty as well. After that it was hours of talking over a cup of tea which turned out to be a great afternoon with some good friends. Until the next lunch menu ... ;-)
Today's day at school was slightly more productive - the class started ontime and lasted the whole hour and 15 minutes ... and so far the assignments are not too difficult and I think I'll enjoy this class. Let's see how tomorrow's class turns out to be like.

Well nothing like a "get-to-know-you" interview in a journalism class to make you realize that you have nothing extremely important or amazing happening in your life and never have. Also the realization that you have no idea what you want to do in the future and have no concrete plans for the future is pretty grim as well.
On a brighter note - I got to see signs this afternoon - which turned out to be a very good, but tense movie to watch. Not to mention the fact that just before writing this I was at this website :http://home.attbi.com/~n9ivo/whatswrong.swf and needless to say, it's not a site to be at after getting scared shitless at every slight movement or sound around you because of the movie. The story of the website is that the couple who live there found out that an old lady died there and she appears in the picture if you look close .... I'm still slightly shaken up at seeing her in the pic ... hope nobody else gets too spooked.

Just a side note - I have not mentioned the 1 yr anniversary of the terrorist attacks - I think it got enough coverage and build up these past few days - but as like many, thoughts and sympathies surround all who were affected.

Well a fun night was had at the Roulette last night ... with great fun, lots of drinks and amazing entertainment (musical and otherwise). Tons of laughing and drinking with amazing music to sing along with and pound out the beat on the table (so much so my glass was hopping around as was many of our pints on the table). The beer just kept coming with the generosity of a good friend and the dancing was amazing. Never before have I ever pitted two brothers against each other but it seems it was a first for me last night. I danced first with one, then the other, and the teasing of who danced better or more, or who put the most into it never stopped. And to think I chair danced with one brother during a slow song and not with the other ... oops .... that was taboo.
The next morning was difficult, slightly craggy in voice because of all the screaming and talking loud to be heard, and extrememly tired since I went to bed at almost 3AM. But that was a completely different morning compared to somebody who was supposed to be at work at 8AM, only to have called in sick becasue at 8AM he was instead sitting beside the Porcelin God of all heavy drinkers. But I do feel sympathy, as we all do, since we have all been there before - but that doesn't mean the teasing will stop.
But it was a great night, one to be remember for a long time ... "Sweetheart, you're a great dancer" ,(told to me by a white haired man at the table near the dance floor) why thanks ... then after hearing my age from my parents he volunteers that "I'm 20 too .... " "I'll dance with you next time *smile*" ... ahh it's the little things that light up my life .... ;-)

"You were looking good," he tells me last night.
"Never thought you noticed things like that," I answer.
It's funny how something like that would've made my day - and in some ways it still does. To be looked upon that way and complimented was just what I needed so long ago, and still I bask in it when I do get what I seek and deem complimentary.

On brighter news - I got some pics scanned from the 3rd annual Camping Party. Follow this link and you too can experience our plastered bliss as we did that lovely night in August.
