This is the story that I am most proud of. It was actually the reason I wanted to start a webpage in the first place. I felt that this narrative was something that deserved publication. Not just of family and friends, but others who I don't even know, and they can appreciate it too. I wrote this on my own doing, not as a project for school, but one for myself. Perhaps that is why I love it so much. I accomplished something on my own. Either way, I would like to share with you this little piece of my mind. Please don't take it literally as I have been asked about my mental stability after the reading of this story. I assure you I am perfectly fine, just enjoying the fact that I was able to convey the absolute feelings that others might feel at this point in their lives.
Thank you very much, I hope you enjoy it.
The moon cast an eerie, shimmering, snake-like, pattern on the glistening abyss of the river. The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore created an invitation to the unknown. .
To the young woman standing on the edge of the water, the openness was a tempting, welcoming escape from the tight, suffocating shadows. The fresh, cool air caressing her cheeks and ruffling her hair was relieving, and set her free from her distraught life, a life soon to be dissolved after the last sure-footed step.
The gleaming light from the ebony night entranced her, pulled her, almost beckoned her to the illuminated trail, while the darkness floated precariously. The flowing freeness of the river drew her. The cool, crisp water did not cause hesitancy, or doubt, for she knew the gentle currents would embrace without any judgement. The tiny ripples rolled over her feet, cleansing all pressures and expectations. Each determined step erased the cry for help she no longer needed, the attention she no longer wanted.
As numbness took control, hugging hands seemed to accept her decision. The frigid blanket rose higher and higher, tucking her into its underwater realm. As the icy cover tickled her throat and crept up her smooth, soft neck, the security effaced any doubt that might have been tugging at the back of her mind. Focusing on the bright full moon in the night sky, she said a quiet prayer, a vow, and descended to nirvana, a place that offered complete freedom.
The gentle waves oscillated, to and fro against the shore, as the lunar light danced upon the sparkling water.
