We are too focused on ourselves that we don't see or hear God pursuing us. Even when we know we need God, our efforts to seek Him block us from realizing He is seeking us! We read His Word and try to attain God's companionship by setting goals to adhere to His commands. But we have no hope unless we know that God's availability is ours BEFORE we make a commitment to Him. Think about that. John 15:16 says,"You did not choose Me, I chose you!" We are in relationship to God only because HE initiates. Otherwise, we make ourselves responsible to make & maintain something supernatural by way of human hands.
The way that we derive power to live out the Christian life is to actively remember that the Lord is in constant pursuit of us! This will activate us into realizing and living in His covenant of love. So read the Bible with the view that He is pursuing you. It will no longer be a book of standards that you are unable to live up to. It will become a passionate loveletter sent to you by the One who desires you most!!!
