Iris is a lovely Rose Gray Arab mare with a sad past.
Six years ago, I was called to the scene of a severe neglect case. 10 horses had been kept in a two acre
pasture with no additional feed and only a muddy creek for water. 7 of the horses were dead, only 3
remained. Iris and her week old filly were two of the three. Opal, another of my mares, was the third.
I took in all three, but Iris' filly, Hope, died a week later. Iris recovered quickly once she did not have a
nursing foal, and today she is a well filled out and happy horse. She is a very calm hunter, and is a
favorite with the girls at the farm. She shows
mostly as a Children's Hunter as she is just a tad too
tall for Pony Hunters.
