The first time I saw them was at WMRQ's "Radio 104 Big Day Off". I already had the CD "sunburn" but after seeing them live!! I just can't describe the energy of that show. I gave Brett a necklace at that show (among others)(you know the ones Brett, hint: blue, green, and white ;)and he gave me his pick in exchange. He said after that he figured it was an even exchange =). Plus, I met them at the autograph tent after and they were so sweet. They all signed stuff for me, Brett signed my pick also. Brett gave me a hug too which made me VERY happy! Later me and my friend Brent were walking around and I just like looked over and saw Brett walking right across from us. SO we ran over and got our pics taken w/ him and I got another hug!! At the end of the preformance Brett said they were coming back to Hartford in one week to open for Aerosmith. Even though I didn't really want to see Aerosmith, I went out and bought a lawn ticket the next day and hitched a ride there the night of the show. I used my SKILLZ to get my butt into the seats instead of staying on the lawn and by the start of the first song, Megan and I were 3RD ROW!! We were like the only ones standing and I was singin every word. Brett and Jeff kept smiling at me, and coming to the edge of the stage. And Brett threw some water on us. After their preformance we left the seats and went out to the tour bus area to try to meet them again.
Me and Megan sat there for 3 hours trying to convince security guards how much I wanted to meet the band. But they wouldn't give in. So then Megan left and I sat there longer (my sister was supposed to pick me up at 1 o'clock). Finally we were all kicked out and then the Tourbus came out and I stood there watching it leave and cryed. 1 o'clock came and my sister still hadn't shown up. So I sat by the side of the road by myself (in the middle of a city at 2:00 a.m.) for almost an hour. Then I see her car and start to get up..she goes right by me! So I walk into practically the ghetto area of hartford, crying hysterically and find a payphone. I have one quarter. I go to pick up the reciever..There's no reciever! so I walk to a bank and the security guy in this little booth tells me I can't use his phone..I have to walk another half mile into the city to some hotel. So I start walking and halfway there a cop picks me up and brings me to the station. SO i called my mom and my sister's fiancee' had to come pick me up at the Hartford Police Station at 3:30 in the morning....and I never even got to meet them...that time.
