Panther Geckos |

HOUSING: A pair to a trio of adults can be housed in a 10 gallon aquarium. For substrate we use commercial reptile substrates such as Repti-Bark. We suggest that you put small hide boxes that are close to the ground since they are burrowing geckos in nature. Other than this a rock or a rough surface is needed for them to rub on when shedding. Temperature should be around 82 degrees (F) while humidty should be around 65%. WATERING/FEEDING: They need a large shallow water dish for drinking. Mist their cages one time per day for correct humidity. These geckos have enormous appetites and can eat anything that they can swallow. However they can be very stubborn if under stress. Healthy picta should not lay around when you are picking them up (this should be rarely done also). BREEDING: This species will breed all year. No cooling period is needed. These geckos are perfect for the beginning breeder. Incubate eggs with the temperature around 82 degrees (F)and humidity should be at 75%. To get females to stop laying. gradually cool them down and keep that for a few months. Otherwise they may lay to death (from retaining sperm). That is if you wan't them to live. I have "retired" females who are six years old and still living. Care for your herps. |
