The Reviews

"If I fall, so falls Scotland. Give me your vow, that should I perish at the hands of the bloody English, you will hasten the king from this country..

It is the year 1333 and Gideon of Ross has been wounded in the battle of Halidon Hill. A loyal supporter of the young King David of Scotland, he has seen to his sovereign's safe escape from the shores of Scotland. Dispossessed of his lands and title, a price on his head, he and his trusted companions, Alpin and Brodic are forced into hiding. Three years later, King Edward of England, attempting to strengthen his alliance with Edward Balliol, the man he appointed King of Scotland, arranges a succession of marriages of English noblewomen to titled noblemen of Scotland.

Sharyn of Nottingham, brought up in the court of Queen Isabella, and trusted companion of King Edward, is one of these women. Despite her protests and disgust at the thought of a union with a barbaric Scot, Sharyn and her maid Bridget, are being escorted to Scotland so she can marry Murdoch, head of the clan Mackenzie. Set upon by an unkempt band of brigands, they are rescued by Gideon and his men. Of lofty height, Gideon, unshaven, and clad in a kilt, is a frightening sight to Sharyn and Bridget.

Believing she has gone from the proverbial frying pan, Sharyn keeps her true identity a secret from Gideon, but as he gains her trust - not to mention her heart - she confides in him and a web of intrigue and deceit begins to untangle. Liberally salted with humour, GIDEON'S PRIDE is a great read for Historical romance fans. Kaye Kelly for SharpWriter.Com

Scribes World Reviews gives 4 Stars to GIDEON'S PRIDE, by; Celia Collier

Gideon of Ross had been stripped of all his property and possessions and had a price on his head because he helped the rightful king, David, of Scotland escape. King Edward of England had cleared the way for Edward Balliol to claim the throne.

Three years later Sharyn of Nottingham was on her way to wed Murdoch Mackenzie. The king, Edward of England had arranged the marriage. Sharyn and her guards and maid were attacked by a gang of marauders. Gideon and his two faithful men, Brodic and Alpin were able to save Sharyn and her maid, Bridget. After the rescue, Gideon and his men knew their troubles were just beginning.

This is a very good story, which is saying something for me because I usually do not read medieval romance novels. But this one had my attention from the beginning. Ms. Collier's description of the scenery is so good that it's as though you're really there during that period of time. The characters are well defined and believable which always makes for a good story. ~~ Hattie Boyd

Celia Collier displays a vibrant and breathtaking ardor, in her story, Gideon’s Pride. The proud and passionate Gideon of Ross vows he’s battled the toughest brigands in the world, until he meets fiery English noblewoman, Sharyn of Nottingham. Travel through a land of mist and heather, as Gideon and Sharyn tame a love more wild than the majestic lands of Scotland. Kim's Reviews ~~ Reviewed by Kim Gaona
