Part Twelve: Riley
I step slowly into the Initiative complex. My heart is pounding for what I am about to do but I realize that for all involved I have no choice. My make my way to the Records room and pull Hostile 42, Angel's, file.
I take it with me and pay him a visit. I type in the pass code and enter his little cell.
"Let's go," I tell him.
"Why?"
"Debriefing."
"Forget it."
I move into the room and take him by the arm and pull him up. "If you know what's good for you you'll come with me Angel." I use his name this time.
He gives me a quizzical look but finally complies and we leave the room. I hold onto to him and take him toward a conference room we use for questioning demons. I look closely at the security camera in our view. As soon as it makes it turn away from us I push the vampire to the wall.
"We've got 90 seconds before that camera pans us again. Listen..." I map out an escape route for him and tell him he has a two-minute window before a total lockdown of the facility occurs. "I removed your implant this morning. When that camera moves to us, hit me. Hit me hard enough to knock me out. Because if you don't I will do all I can to stop you."
He stares at me for a moment, suspicious at first but realizes where my heart is. And before he can get sentimental about it, the camera turns to us and he takes a swing and connects with my jaw, forcing me to the ground and into unconsciousness...
