The following comments were taken from "The Messiah Runner" our newsletter. These comments reflect the feelings of a few of our members regarding Team Messiah Ministry.
By Jeannie: It has been a real joy to run for Team Messiah. Since joining this last spring, I have found that running for Jesus on a team made up of believers has brought new meaning and purpose to this part of my life. Each time I show up for a race wearing my Team Messiah outfit, there has been opportunity to share with another believer or curious racer. These times have been very special. It helps me realize that all my running efforts have brought me to this period in my life where I can experience these rewarding times. I praise our Heavenly Father that he takes our running and uses it for his glory.
By Paul: Scripture verses Matthew 5:13-16 give us light as to how we should carry out our lifestyles as Christians. Jesus wants us to be the salt and light of the world, giving a glimpse of God's heaven and glory to those who have not shared this view. As I run for my Messiah, I believe it's a privilege to shine his light and shake his salt for a lost world. What better way but to let others know of your love for him but by representing him. I believe our Team Messiah singlets really let out that light-giving ministry. People see you in a Messiah singlet and know you stand for the Lord Jesus Christ. This gives glory to God. Now you can take the opportunity to those who see you in pink and turquoise and share the reason why you run and race for Jesus alone. Wishing you God's speed.
By Judy: This past Climb a Mountain Relay run was my first experience of running on a team Messiah team, complete with singlet. Since I've been running a ling time, almost 10 years, it was not my first experience on a team. So, what was different? I would say the fellowship and prayer from my fellow team members, as well as support - fantastic, enthusiastic support! Every one gave their all in effort, and I was proud that Team Messiah had so many teams represented. I was asked at one of the exchange points "just what is Team Messiah?, do you represent a certain chruch?" So, I was glad to say we were Christians representing the Lord, and membership in a certain church was not a requirement. I think it was evident to all that we were having a good time. Christians do have fun!
