Taegeuk 2 Jang

The second aspect of Taegeuk is the principle Tae of Palgwe. (This Tae as seen by its chinese character, is different from Tae in Taegeuk.) Tae means joyfullness. Its form represents the state of mind which is serene and gentle yet firm within, the state from which true virtue smiles. Tae is feminine; it is symbolized by a lake. Tae is not silent but bubbling with joy. This second form, representing joyfullness,consists of movements that are made softly yet firmly with control. The student shifts fro m a High Front stance to a Front Stance more frequently than in Taegeuk 1 and emphasizes the Front Kick, learning to move more freely. This emphasis on movements of the lower part of the body allows the student to learn balance and the proper stances, and strenthens the muscles in the proper stances, and strengthens the muscles in the legs. Taegeuk 2 Jang intoduces the High Block as a new technique. STEPS
1.Turn your body 90* to the left toward L-1 while sliding out with your left foot forward toward L-1 into a Left High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Left-Hand Low Block.
2.Slide your right foot forward toward L-1 into a Right Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand Middle Punch.
3.Turn your body 180* to the right toward R-1 while pivoting on the ball of your left foot and sliding out with your right foot toward R-1 into a Right High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand Low Block.
4.Slide your left foot forward toward R-1 into a Left Front Stance / Simultaneously execute a Left Hand Middle Punch.
5.Turn your body 90* to the left toward B while sliding out with your left foot forward toward B into a Left High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand Middle Block(outside to inside).
6.Slide your right foot forward toward B into a High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Left Hand Middle Block(outside to inside).
7.While turning your face and body 90* to the left,Pivot to the left on the ball of your right foot and slide your left foot forward toward L-2 into a Left Front High Stance / simultaneously execute a Left Hand Low Block.
8a.Execute a Right Front Kick toward L-2.
8b.Step forward with your right foot toward L-2 into a Right Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand High Punch.
9.Turn your body 90* to the right toward R-2 while pivoting on the ball of your left foot and sliding out with your right foot forward toward R-2 into a Right High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand Low Block.
10a.Execute a Left Front Kick toward R-2.
10b.Step forward with your left foot toward R-2 into a Left Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Left Hand High Punch.
11.Turn your body 90* to the left towar B while sliding out with your left foot toward B into a Left High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Left Hand Hight Block.
12.Slide your right foot toward B into a Right High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right hand High Block.
13.Turn your body 270* to the left toward R-3 while pivoting to the left on the ball of your right foot and sliding out with your left foot toward R-3 into a Left High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand Middle Block (outside to inside).
14.Turn your body 180* to the right toward L-3 while pivoting to the right on the ball of your left foot and sliding out toward L-3 into a Right High Front Stance/ simultaneously execute a Left Hand Middle Block(outside to inside).
15.Turn your body 90* to the left toward A while pivoting to the left on the ball of your right foot and sliding your left foot near the right foot forward toward A into a Left High Front stance / simultaneously execute a Left Hand Low Block.
16a.Execute a Right Front Kick toward A.
16b.Step forward with your right foot toward A into a Right High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand Middle Punch.(The punch should be delivered as quickly as possible and follow the front kick as a continous motion.)
NOTE:sixteenth position a and b should be performed in a rapid,continous motion.
17a.Execute a Left Front Kick toward A.
17b.Step forward with your left foot toward A into a Left High Front stance / simultaneously execute a Left Hand Middle Punch.(The punch should be delivered as quickly as possible and follow the front kick as a continous motion.)
Note:seventeenth position a and b should be performed in a rapid,continous motion.
18a.Execute a Right Front Kick toward A.
18b.Step forward with your right foot toward A into a Right High Front Stance / simultaneously execute a Right Hand Middle Punch(the punch should be delivered as quickly as possible and follow the font kick as a continous motion)and yell.
NOTE:eighteenth position a and b should be performed in a rapid,continous motion.
STOP
While turning your face and body 180* to the left toward B, piviot to the left on the ball of your right foot and slide your left foot around behind the right foot toward center A into a Ready Stance, facing B.
