I was born and brought up in a small town by name Thondamuthur. It is in Coimbatore district, Tamilnadu, India. My mother tongue is kannada. There is a big story of how we migrated from karnataka to tamilnadu. When the mogul kings were ruling, one local chieftan wanted to marry two particular girls from our village. But our elders refused. Angered, he planned for invading. So our people moved lock,stock and barral from that village. On the way there was a river in spate. The mogul army was closing in. Those two girls whom the mogul wanted to marry sacrificed themselves by diving in to the river. The river moved by compassion, gave way to us. But when the mogul king came, it was in spate again. So we escaped to Tamilnadu.
I went on to do my schooling in Sainik School, Amaravathinagar. It is a residential school under defence ministry of india. Words can't describe how much i owe to my school. Click here if u want to read few interesting stories from my school.
I can keep on telling much much more intersting things from my school. Even now when we guys meet we used to talk a lot about our school. Friends not from our school easily become fed up with this. One used to say" these people always talk about that small brick with 1 inch of scratch in it.. and so on".
I passed out in 1991. I went on to finish my Bachelor' s in physics in Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore.The environment here was entirely different from my school. I passed out in 1994. Ours might be the only college were we had uniforms. White and white. People also used to wear dhotties. Once we striked to change the uniform policy. Stopped all the buses and started sticking posters on it. Principal closed the college for 2 weeks. None of our demands were met. There was one professor. He was the worst human beging i have met. After studying under great teachers in SSA, it was a rude shock for me. He used to ask guys to do errands for him. When he retired he told each classs what is the gift they should be giving to him. It ran like, tyre for scotter, water heater so on...
I went on to finish my Bachelor's in technology from Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai.I passed out in 1997. Had some very committed teachers. When we were in 1st year all of us were in the same hostel. We were in the top most floor. We used to pour water on the guys in the floors below. It was total fun. Our hostel faced chrompet railway station. During lunch time, we used the mirrors to reflect the sunlight on the girls standing in the station. We had few funny slogans. The best was MIT oath. Andhi neram sandhi saya....... i enjoyed one ragging. One senior asked me stick appalam in my index finger and asked me to go to the girls and say "I am Lord Krishna. I will grant u a boon".
Joined DCM Data Systems, New delhi as Design Engineer. One guy usesd to come to our house in the morning and deliver food packets. Good south indian stuff. North indian people loved our idli, vada. So every day i used to carry atleast 7,8 packets to the office. I knew very little hindi. Once i went to buy fruits. After buying, the vendor asked me for the time. It was 7:30. I knew "sath" is for 7. But how to tell 7:30??. I knew 1/2 is adha in hindi. So i told him, "sath aur adha", gave a sly smile and ran back. I felt very bad living far from from my native. My native was 40 hours of train journey from delhi.
So i moved out of delhi and joined RR Sycore ( Now Real Chips) in chennai in May'98. Had a short stint only.
Moved again to Wipro , Bangalore in Nov' 99.Till this moment i am slogging out in Wipro. Once i went to Antwerpn, Belgium for system integeration testing. I was wearing a leather jacket which was kept in a polythene cover with napthalene balls. So i was smelling of napthalene balls. In brussels airport, i was searching for forex counter. Suddenly one police came , flashed his Icard , and asked for my passport. He started sniffing. He talked to his collegues in flemish. I heard them mentioning about napthalene balls. Then they let me go.
Yes. (Un) fortunately i am still a bachelor. I expect to remain so for 2 more years.
My interests are in trekking , listening to light music, reading magazines.
How can there be a tamilian with out being a fan of rajini kanth. I like his movies for his style. My favourite actress is Kowsalya for her homely looks, Malavika for her sexy looks, laila for her cute smile, jyothika for her childish looks and so on......
