If I were to look back in time,
to the beginning
of all beginnings
I would see the small fires
of our souls
smouldering
& already blessed as twin flames.

Through gusts of wind and
avalanches of snow and
diamonds
we danced and licked at the sky
and hissed at the lifetimes
and thousands of deaths
that tore us apart.

The hurricane that was
created to extinguish us
has failed and triumphed
all at once,
for we drink
from the fountain of winds
to keep our love burning bright,
almost unaware
of the potentcy it holds
to set a raging fire alight
that could violate
our flesh
or deliver us to where we
are today,
burnt away and
sifted down
with nothing left but cinders
and ash
to prove our love was forever.
