Buying CDs at ridiculous retail prices?

July 31st, 2003 Are you buying CDs, or other music stuff at retail stores? Not me, usually. The prices can be outrageous, even criminal. Recently, I wanted some of the BUTTHOLE SURFERS albums on CD. The retail store/franchise I was going to purchase one of the albums from wanted to sell it to me for $25.99 Canadian, plus tax. Ridiculous! I ended up getting it on an internet auction site for $14.08, including tax and shipping/handling. I bought another BUTTHOLE SURFERS CD for only $9.50 Canadian, including all taxes and shipping/handling. No wonder people are stealing music (whether by MP3 downloading, or actual physical theft of the merchandise from stores) One of the leading retail stores wanted like $14 Canadian plus taxes for SAM ROBERTS The Inhuman Condition CD EP, which is only a 6-track CD. Retail stores, stop being greedy, sell your stuff at reasonable prices, the money you will generate through volume sales will be worth it. Start showing some integrity with your pricing. I personally avoid, basically boycott businesses that display such blatant greed, you should avoid patronizing these businesses too. Maybe these businesses will learn that they are the main reason the artistry behind music is being killed, though I am convinced they already are aware of this, and obviously do not care.

August 1st, 2003 Today I bought 4 movie soundtrack CDs. 1 was brand new (still in it's shrinkwrap) It was DRACULA 2000. I bought 3 used CDs all in at least very good condition. M:i-2, Spawn, Romeo + Juliet. Final total cost for all 4 CDs: $14.73 Canadian. Why buy brand new CDs at extremely marked up prices, when you can get four at a pawn shop or entertainment exchange-type shop for less than the cost of 1 CD at a regular retail store.

On July 30th, 2003 I actually purchased 2 very good condition double CDs for a beautiful final total of only $4.30 Canadian. The deals are out there if you're willing to find them. These particular CDs were rare, and limited editions.
