Cast characters
Gale:She is one of Woodsboro's top reporters. She's dealt
with the Prescott family issues before, and her and Sidney have a
conflicting past because of that. She's bossy and overeager, she
always wants to get the story first.
Courtney Cox states, "Gale Weathers is a very strong-willed,
manipulative woman. She wants to get the story, and will do
anything to get it. She wants to be a star, and she doesn't
think the facts are as important as long as she's on the scene.
Gale wants the world to stop when she shows up."
Billy:He is Sidney's faithful boyfriend. However he's
confused about why Sidney is so closed off around him. She's not
into normal guy-girl relationship stuff, and won't go all the way
with him. Billy's the kind of guy who only his friends can really get
to know him. He never shares his deep feelings with anyone, but
he wants to get closer to Sid.
Skeet Ulrich's reaction to his character is the fact that he likes the
idea that Billy's road to love and lust is blocked at every turn.
"He wants the relationship, but Sidney's problems are getting
in the way. Then, the next thing he knows, he's being blamed
for murder. It's fun to play somebody who is totally frustrated, and totally mislabeled. I'm
sure a lot of people can relate to that. Anybody in prison will certainly be sympathetic."
Randy:He is the movie buff of his friends, and is especially
into horror. He relates everything in life to the movies. He has a
secret crush on Sidney, but doesn't know how to do anything
about it. He's a jokester as well, and he and Stu are always
crossing each others point of view.
"Randy's a geeky clerk who is real passionate about his
thing, which is scary movies," says Jamie Kennedy when
questioned about his persona in Scream. "He's a passionate,
hyper young kid who is into Sidney, and just about
everything normal teenagers are into."
Dewey: This guy is cool and funny.
Dewey is the sister of Tatum Riley. He is the town deputy
of Woodsburo and therefore is right in the action. The ways in which Dewey
acts is really funny. He's a little stupid sometimes
but is very gentle and can be shy, especially around Gale Weathers. He
is determined to cathcing the killer, that is if he isn't the killer...
I mean, who knows?? Im all fucked up with this 3rd killer theory!!
Stuart: He is the kind of guy who has lots friends and is never
without something to say. He's the class clown and reputative
joker. He's hyperactive and a partier. He has a good sense of
humour, but usually uses it at the wrong times.
"Stuart is this kind of skinny white boy who rocks out to
gangsta rap," says Matt Lillard when asked about Stuart, his
character. "He throws the phattest parties and has a lot of
friends. Unfortunately, in the movie, most of those friends
end up dead."
Sidney: She is a teenage girl with a troubled life. Her mother has
been dead and buried a year ago, her father is more interested in
business than in her, a news reporter just won't leave her alone,
and her boyfriend intimidates her. She's a quiet 17 year old, but
even though she's been through a lot, she's still full of life and has
a fairly positive, if not sensitive out look on life.
When Neve Campbell was asked about her character, Sidney,
her feelings were, "Female roles in scary movies are very
unique. The character I play in Scream starts out very weak
and, by the end of the film, becomes very strong and can
overcome just about anything. Sidney learns that all she needs is to find the ultimate trust in
herself in order to succeed. Finding this character and discovering that transformation was a
challenge." A reporter, Gale Weathers believes Cotton Weary is innocent of Mrs Prescott's death
(Sydney's mother) and later in the movie this is found to be true and in
fact the killer on the loose. Now, Sydney has become a target, along
with everyone else in the neighbourhood.
Tatum: She is Sid's best friend. She's a trendy, preppy,
opinionated person with no fears in life. She's always comforting
or protecting Sid cuz she's been through it all with her and doesn't
want to see her friend get hurt again.
Rose McGowan says "Tatum is the classic best friend," when
asked about her character, Sidney's comrade in the movie. "She
and Sidney have known each other since birth, and they are
so close that they literally finish each other's sentences."
Casey: She is a popular and sophisticated girl with lots of
friends and a caring boyfriend. She's another scary movie fan, but
the hard thing is remembering what you learned from the movies
when it's actually happening to you.
Mr.Ghostface: Finally... Here
he is. The totally scrariest killer to set a new meaning to the term "PSYCHO
MASSACRE" Or something like that. Anyway this is the guy who scares the
SHIT out of you when you first see him. He's cool.
