The Importance of Friends
Why Gay/Les Teens Need Friends
- Gays are at higher risk of self-mutilation
- Gays have very few places that they can turn to.
- Homophobia is the last 'exceptable' prejudice
- More of the teens on the streets are gay than striaght.
- Many people are afraid of gays, and, concequently, stare at gays and make-up jokes to ease their own minds.
- Teachers will openly badmouth gays in class, because it's concered 'exceptable' by the parents and adminastration
- Without someone to talk to, other, not as healthy, things will begin to take their place. Such as drugs and alcohol.
- Gays will also turn to gangs for exceptance. Many will die in gang related fights.
- Friends don't have to agree on everything, they can belive that someone who is gay will burn in hell, and still be there to offer help and love.
- Love is the biggest lesson in the Bible, yet gays aren't given that 'unconditional' love.
- A gay teen is just like a straight teen. Once people understand that, then prejudice will disapear.
- Everyone, regardless of age, race, sex, or sexual orantition needs to belong somewhere. It is a basic human need.
