The power of poetry lies in the self-examination that must occur first before the writing can be born. The difficulty is in discovering truth in ourselves. Life is a puzzle - for those of us more literally inclined, poetry is a little like the picture on the puzzle. To sit down and look at my life and to depict it in words and images aided me in putting the pieces of my life together, to an extent.
