I am proud to call myself Wiccan. For those of you in the sheltered world of "paganism and wicca = devil", I believe that everything is about Nature.. I will explain in the following paragraph. I am living in Colorado now, and I have found that there are many different things that are excepted out here. I was a member of the Circle of the Standing Stones Witan Shrine back in Ohio. Although I had to leave them, I am glad that I found them when I did. While I feel detached and alone sometimes because my friends are everywhere in the country, I am again beginning to feel peaceful in my life and it is VERY nice.. I am happy to be comfortable. I love the mystikal stuff and everything. i love my Shakespeare and all the the Celtic traditions. I am not in anyway persecuting people for their beliefs. I am merely explaining what i have found to be most comfortable in my almost 23 years of life.
I will start with four years ago. The original movement of the thought of being a pagan began in my mind when I wandered off the "christian path" [and NO, I am not mocking Christians], but I did. Then I ran into a strange boy that was a Satanist. He is now Atheist, but at the time enjoyed smoking pot, driving fast, killing animals and reading his "bible". That interested me a little, but I knew it wasn't for me. Hence my dark side began to form. The Craft peaked my interests. Then James, Lord Divic, Deamonklown, the klown, or Brian as he is known by, came into my life. He taught me what I thought the ways of paganism was. I found these theories that he put in my head were kind of .... the basis for paganism, but the books he recommended to me, such as Scott Cunningham's A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner
were closer to the truth than the words that came from his mouth. But I learned on my own, From my sister Willa, people on the net.. and other places that i collected information from. My findings in religion are in my book, on April 13, 2001: Alright, I've been lost in my religion but being found in a clear mind, the clearest in a long time, I think that I have found mine. I asked whatever high being above us is there to help me. This is the intuitive information that I have come up with:
God and Goddess exist
In the beginning of all heavenly creations, there was a God... AND a Goddess just as many womanly things have been looked past, SHE also exists. They are all around us everywhere. To make a human life, two exist, as it does in the sky. When they unite in harmony, as a male and female create a being, they created nature. And a Beautiful, perfect creation it was.
Why then, do some humans(most Americans and English) believe in God?
This all goes back to Medieval Pagan times. Male was superior to this civilization as it was/is in most cultures. The "masculine/feminine"(whichever is more dominant in that culture) traits or roles may be reversed, but they are all seeing man as more powerful. To make humankind believe in its natural creators, THEY sent a son, Jesus, to prove of their greatness. And how great he was. he died for all of us to live in CHOICE. Sin(defined as missed the mark) can be forgiven if it was a TRUE wrong choice. Not a wrong choice chosen for advantage. God does exist because humans needed to believe in the more "superior" gender. Do we fret when a girl plays with a truck? Do we fear our young sons playing with dolls? Those of us open-minded understanding souls don't, but some do for various reasons. They don't care if the girl wants to be masculine, because it is ideal. However, some see the boy as declining by doing what a woman does. By believing in God, they still believe in half the equation, but both exist. I do not understand those of us humans that fear us that see both the God and Goddess. I suppose that is ignorance... or maybe fear that we are in control of our religious relationship with the higher beings.
Nature
Everything revolves around nature, for without creation, we would not exist. You cannot truely believe that something that detailed and beautiful is manmade. That is why nature, earth, existed BEFORE humans. And look at the way we treat it. It is deteriorating, and soon we will lose what was created for us to live amongst. Everything is connected... and it all comes back to Nature. Treat it well. It is beautiful-and the only earth we have.
Angels/Fairies
Angels/Fairies do the small work that the God and Goddess cannot. There are so many lifelines and in order to keep fate in line, THEY send angels to guide us.
So what does this make me? Well, *sigh* I feel most comfortable(in the right environment) as Pagan. Most recently I feel comfortable because I know now that there are others like myself, we are PAGAN
Here is a poem I found in Nebula Aurora Twilight's Book of Shadows. I found it on a loose piece of paper...Here goes..
Rain pounds on her back
Forcing her hunch closer to the ground
Rotten food pumbles her
Her skirt is tattered and torn,
As she slowly walks to her doom
They've built a tent
So that the wood will burn
The people press against her
They call her "witch, bitch, and satans whore."
Here is something else from Nebula! It speaks to the heart of the old ones.
Two men open the flap
the girls are forced inside
They push her hard to her knees
Then all is silent
The preacher "the man of god" has walked in
He goes to the girl and says
"Confess, you are the devil's child
we've read your book of shadows,
we've wittnessed your unholy rights,
you even wear a penticle upon your breast,
so I say confess you are the devil's child."
Slowly the young girl rises.
"I will not confess, I am not the devil's child,
I believe in the goddess and the horned one."
"Come, come, my child, the devil deludes your mind."
"Let me speak!
You have the deluded mind.
I do not believe in satan & I do not drink baby's blood. I'am a witch &
I do wear a penticale on my breast."
"You see she confessed she is the devil's child"
"I am not! I am a witch not a satanist!"
"You are blind you say you are peaceful that you live by your
comandments but you are the evil ones."
"Take her to the stake"
They drag her screaming to the steak
And tie her hands
And as the wood begins to burn
The preacher says
"Gods justice be done."
