A Dark Empire.....

Background

It is a dark time for the New Republic. Although Grand Admiral Thrawn has been defeated and his Spaarti cloning cylinders destroyed, the Imperial forces have resurfaced again. Rallied behind a deadly new opponent, these forces have launched a devastating attack on Coruscant, overthrowing the New Republic stronghold and forcing the former Rebels to flee. But the New Republic is made of strong men and women. Gathering together their people and ships, the stalwart Rebels have set up base on the Pinnacle Moon of Da Soocha, the fifth moon in the system. Here they hide from Imperial forces and plan their next attack...

Flavor Text, Week 2

Across the galaxy from our heroes, a shuttle came out of hyperspace near the forest moon of Endor. 2 figures sat in huddled the cockpit of the shuttle. The passenger was an elderly man, frail in appearance with heavily wrinkled skin and bent posture. Yet his eyes gleamed with excitement at the sight of the forest moon. The pilot was a man in his mid 40s, hair graying at the temples and creeping up towards the top. There were dark circles beneath his eyes and his knuckles were white as he released the hyperspace lever. "Well my Lord, we've arrived," he said tightly, forcing himself to calm down. "Relax Commander," said his companion. "I don't imagine that the Ewoks will be blasting us into oblivion from here." He smiled at the thought, creases forming around his shrunken mouth. "But no matter." Commander Aldere avoided his gaze. Aldere was of the belief that no one, not even military leaders, should have golden eyes. There was something incredibly wrong about them. Still he swallowed his fear and replied, "Yes sir." His companion suddenly gripped his arm tightly. Aldere was forced to look into those eyes. Inwardly flinching, he forced himself to hold the gaze. "Commander," the elderly man barked. "Yes, Lord?" Aldere managed. "Do you know why we lost the battle for Endor?" Aldere swallowed. This was a loaded question, and particularly loaded since his companion was not exactly sane. Granted, tests had been done, but with nearly all of the Spaarti materials lost in the explosions at Mt. Tantiss, it was difficult to tell what normalcy was. This could merely be a character flaw. At least, Aldere hoped it was. He realized that those yellow eyes were fixed on him. "Well Lord, I would think that the loss of the Death Star was a major part of it." The elderly man lowered his head, and the gleam seemed to be gone from his eyes. When he raised them again, they seemd to be filled with fire. "No, Commander. You've missed the point. Endor was merely a feint. The Empire would rise again with Thrawn, and even now we have chased the Rebels from Coruscant. No, the Empire is destined to rule the galaxy. We allowed the Rebels to win at Endor to fool them. Do you understand? Fool them!" The elderly man reached out to his staff in front of him, and used it to give the floor a decent whack. "And we fooled them indeed!" Aldere watched this with queasiness racing through his stomach. "Yes Lord." They really needed to get their testing procedures straight. Whoever he was with clearly was unstable. And could a frail man this unstable remake the galaxy?....Until next time.... NPCs
