Eldest sage, weak and weary
              An answer please to my query
              What is the meaning of living
              Always taking or always giving?
              To what rules should our lives apply
            How should we act 'ere we die?
              Is there not a book of rules
              or do we go on like mindless fools,
              us, mere threads upon life's spools?
              I'm told the course is mine to take
            And decisions all mine to make,
            Unto this life that I partake
              Cast me not upon death's lake
