Dara walked along the lonely beach, glad that there were so few people surrounding her. Moving across country had been tough in her senior year, but at least the waters were close by. She could always come here. As she looked down the beach, the image of a young man with a frisky dog caught her eye and she watched them exuberantly frolick in the water.
Taking a stick in his mouth, the dog bounded up to Dara and eagerly dropped it in front of her. His owner jogged up the sand, his dark eyes locking onto hers. "Sorry about that," he murmured, tossing the stick down to the water again. They both watched the happy mutt chase after it. Dara swallowed, feeling his penetrating gaze once more. She glanced up, her cheeks heating instantly. "Dara Jensen," she said finally extending her hand. "I'm new here, a senior." He smiled warmly, dimples flashing. "Michael Corinthos, most people call me Sonny." His hand clasped hers and Dara felt her spine tingle. "Pleased to meet you Michael," she replied softly. Senior year just got interesting.
