Hope's Destiny
Chapter 4
Meanwhile, Xena and Gabrielle headed to the temple
which Ares had hidden Hope at, at an earlier time,
it was the only place they could think of to go.
Gabrielle didn't speak through the trip, she was still
in awe of Hope's return.
When Hope and Ares were 'done', Hope kneeled before the
fire of Dahak.
"father..I'm back, tell me your bidding"
the flame answered in sevreal puffs of black smoke and
rumbles in the sky.
"Such an easy task father..."
Hope looked over at Ares and told him "All he wants, is
Xena, dead"
"Oh..no allegeance to be formed, sacrifices to be made in
order to bring him back?"
"He won't ask such things untill Xena is gone"
"Hope, what of Gabrielle?"
"we'll see about her"
At this time gabriele and Xena were sitting at a ridge
not far away taking a rest, Argo needed one badly.
"Let's get moving" stated Xena and they both mounted Argo
and raced toward the temple.
Xena tied Argo to a tree at a location near the temple but
away from danger.
Xena was about to enter the temple when Gabrielle stopped her-
"No, Xena, first I have got to face her..alone"
Xena nodded, she understood.
Gabrielle knew Ares would be there so didn't bother trying
to be silent as she walked in. Hope and Ares were standing
there waiting for her once she enterned the temple's main
throne room.
"hello mother"
"Hope..."
"Once again.the child is growing inside me, but it feels
different this time, no spkies in my stomach, nothing, just
little humanly feet kicking"
"Hope, what do you want?"
"what i've always wanted"
"to rule the world?"
"No, thats my father's ambition, you'd be surprised by my
ideals"
"And what are those?"
"My 6 destroyers, myself, a family, seeing as I never had one"
"Oh, and I suppose you'll take strolls along the beach and
go on family PICNICS?"
"Why do you hate me so much mother? never hurt you, not
really, I even offered you the chance to be at my family
picnic"
"I'm not even going to answer that Hope. You know I don't
HATE you, I resent you, but a mother, well, I could never
hate my daughter"
"so you finally acknowledge the position"
"I never denied it, but this has got to stop, Xena will
kill you if it doesn't"
