If you remember 911 the you'll recognise their front man, Lee Brennan, 911 have just finished a reunion tour and now Lee's going solo so, where better to perform his first solo gig, than at the L&K/MK One search for a model final?!
Hi Lee! So how did it feel to perform solo at our lil ol' modelling event?
I was really nervous before I went on stage, especially as it was my first solo gig. But it's something that I'm going to have to get used to!
911 split a few years ago so what made you decide to do a reunion tour?
A guy who used to work for our old management company called me and Spike and asked if we were doing any gigs. We told him no and that we weren't even in touch with Jimmy, but he came back to us with 18 tour dates! So we found Jimmy and we all agreed to it.
How was it seeing Jimmy again after so long?
It was weird. I think Jimmy thought me and Spike had plotted to split up 911, but we didn't. We sat down and spoke about splitting up and I just think Jimmy took it the worst. But, at the time, I was going round the bend and thought I was losing my mind. I was scared of flying and was just going crazy. So we agreed to do the greateast hits album and finish the tour in Asia.
What are you most looking forward to about being back on tour?
Getting my confidence back, singing live on stage, getting out there and meeting people, and for people to hear my songs. I've co-written all the songs that'll be on my debut solo album.
Tell us a lil bit about the reunion tour?
Well, Spike and Jimmy staged it all. I didn't used to do that much dancing, but it's funny how we all remembered the routines as soon as the music started again!
Do you think you'll recognise faces in the crowd?
I think I will. I kept in touch with some of the fans though the website and there are a couple of girls who are always asking what I'm up to. It feels really good to be able to tell them what I'm doing now. For a while my answer was 'Nothing!.
What was the best thing to happen to you when u were in 911?
Playing Wembley and having a number one hit, both of which were out aim when we started out.
If you could duet with anyone who would it be?
Janet Jackson, Madonna or Mel C. I love Mel C! She doesn't care what people think and she's done some great songs as well.
Do you want to be bigger than 911?
I'd be lying if I said no. I know what's expected of me and I know there'll be lots and lots of hard work. I've prepared myself for that and Ii won't let myself get messed up like before.
What do you think of the world of pop today?
It's changed a lot! But that's pop for you, it's constantly changing. There seems to be a lot less cheesy pop around now, too. There's definitely enough room for another big group though.
Who's the most famous person you've got in your phone book?
My girlfriend's! Ha! Ha! And I've also got Emma Bunton's mum's number! (Ha! Ha! We won't even go there!)
So, give us some goss', are you and Lindsey from B*Wiched still together?
We are! And we've been seeing each other for almost three years now. It's a long time, but there are no engagement rings on fingers-yet! (L&K).
