The Silverado Band is:

Rose Hopkins - guitar/vocal
Kevin Cross - drums/backing vocals

SMMO: Describe your music to someone who has never heard your music before.

TSB: “Straight Forward Rock-n-Roll with a Southern Kick in the Pants!” It’s funny, that started out as a joke, but the more it was said, the more it stuck. It IS a catchy little phrase isn’t it?

SMMO: What's better, stage or studio?

TSB: That’s a hard one to answer. The studio is where all the creativity is at. It’s such a great feeling to see songs come together from a backbone idea to the final masterpiece. It’s where we put our heart and soul on a format for all to experience.

The stage however, is just as great. It’s where our audiences can see who we really are. The labor and delivery is over and we can get out and celebrate the birth of a new creation. It’s a way for us to give our audiences what we’ve worked so hard to create. The feeling from the response that we get from the audience is indescribable.

SMMO: When the band is at rehearsal, describe the atmosphere.

TSB: “Good music, and bad jokes”!! And you can quote me on that. Even though we’re serious musicians and are totally dedicated to making everything sound right, we still have a lot of fun.

SMMO: Do you promote more on the internet, or by "word-of-mouth"?

TSB: Definitely more on the Internet. It only makes sense to use the resource that’s world-wide to reach more people.

SMMO: How can audiences find out more about you, do you have a website?

TSB: Yes, our web address is www.TheSilveradoBand.net We currently have member photos and bios, our schedule, song list, and much more. Come visit us, and have your coffee brewed, cause you’re gonna be there a while.

SMMO: Do you perform original songs or cover songs, or both?

TSB: It depends on the show that we’re performing at. If it’s an hour or hour-and-a-half set we’ll perform mostly, if not all, originals. That’s a great opportunity to showcase the originals. If we’re doing a 4-set night, we’ll mix it up with originals and covers.

SMMO: Does the band have a CD available, how can we get a copy?

TSB: We’re currently in the studio working on a 5-song compilation to be released June 2004. We have many more, and it was hard to decide on which 5. We figured 5 songs would be a good taste for our audiences. We will have it for sale on our website and at shows.

SMMO: What goals has the band set for its future?

TSB: Once we’ve completed our 5-song compilation, we have a few well-known music artists, and a few label representatives that we’ll deliver it to. If anything comes from it, great, if not, we won’t give up. We’re just like anyone else with original music and dreams of taking it somewhere.

SMMO: Has the band received radio or television airplay, tell us about that.

TSB: Yes, recently a “draft” version of two of the songs on our 5-song compilation received radio airplay with great response from the listening audience and higher reps at the station. We’ve also had several of our shows be recorded and played on a local music video show.

SMMO: Do the members of the band write original material as a collective unit? Also, Is there a lead song writer who comes forth with the majority of original material?

TSB: I’d like to answer both of these if I may. Our originals are usually derived from one member coming to rehearsal with a skeleton for a full song which includes lyrics and a backbone music format. Then the rest of us adds our individual ideas to the song to create a work of art. But most of what we have was written by Cheyenne, so if I had to say that there is a “lead song writer” I’d have to say it’s him.
