SMMO: What's the name of your band, who are the members, and what do they play?
Scott: We are Savage Jack
Scott Smith: Lead Vocals and Bass
Bill Hopf: Drums and Percussion
Andy Gorfain: Guitars

SMMO: Describe your music to someone who has never heard your music before.
Scott: heavy rock, heavy blues, grunge, metal
Andy: it's such a mix of all sorts of different styles, it's hard to describe, it's possible to identify 3 or even 4 styles before you even get to the bridge or chorus.

SMMO: What's better, stage or studio?
Scott: stage: the energy
Andy: yes, the stage for sure

SMMO: How often, and how long does your band rehearse?
Scott: 10 hours a week or more

SMMO: When the band is at rehearsal, describe the atmosphere.
Scott: usually sincere, hardworking, but fun

SMMO: Do you promote more on the internet, or by "word-of-mouth"?
Scott: we use both
Andy: relying on the internet alone and passively waiting for people to "stumble" across you is just lazy, word of mouth combined with a solid email list in addition to the more traditional internet advertising gets results.... bottom line is the more you do the more you get.

SMMO: Are Southern Maryland venues supportive of local bands?
Scott: so far we have found them pretty good.

SMMO: What can your band offer the Southern Maryland audiences that other bands don't?
Scott: all original music, tight, raw sound that rocks!
Andy: a solid stage presence and show, you have GOT to see Scott work a room, he's got to be the best front man I've ever seen.

SMMO: What styles or genre's most influence your music?
Scott: heavy rock/grunge mix as of late
Andy: as one's music career evolves, influences can come from anywhere and everywhere. my style used to be very classic rock brittish, you know, Clapton, Beck and Page, I cant say that anymore as I've evolved beyond that. It's important when writing all originals to be your own musician and rely on your own style.

SMMO: How can audiences find out more about you, do you have a website?
Scott: http://www.savagejack.com , then come see us live. Our bio is on the website.
Andy: best way to find out what we're about is to come see us perform live.

SMMO: How did the band get its name and how long has the group been around?
Scott: We've been together for about 3 years. How we got our name is a secret.
Andy: I can tell you how we got the name, but then I'll have to kill you :p

SMMO: Describe your band in one sentence.
Scott: hard driving with a big back beat

SMMO: Most incouraging moment as a band, most discouraging moment.
Scott: Springfest early on
Andy: that was our first major engagement, the responce was outstanding. We don’t get discouraged, we're too determined to succeed for that.

SMMO: Do you perform original songs or cover songs, or both?
Scott: original songs only

SMMO: What is your secret method of providing the best show possible for the audience?
Scott: that's a secret now isn't it?
Andy: you'll all just have to come see us perform live to find out first hand.

SMMO: What's the bands favorite venue to perform at in Southern Maryland, why?
Andy: I cant speak for Scott and Bill, but I prefer large outdoor venues

SMMO: Does the band have a CD available, how can we get a copy?
Scott: not yet, it's in the works.
Andy: we have a 4 song demo at the moment, but that's only for promotional purposes. A full length album is in the works.

SMMO: What goals has the band set for its future?
Scott: as far as we can take it.

SMMO: Has the band received radio or television airplay, tell us about that.
Scott: no, but looking forward to it.

SMMO: Would you ever consider not playing music?
Scott: no!
Andy: no!

SMMO: What does your talent mean to you?
Scott: it's a gift.
Andy: agreed there.

SMMO: What goals have you set for your bands future?
Scott: one step at a time, don't rush the music.
