The members of the band Evick, and what they do :
Pete Evick - vocals / guitar
Chuck Fanslau - drums / vocals
Scott Clark - bass / vocals
Gary Smallwood - guitar / vocals

SMMO: Describe your music to someone who has never heard your music before.
Evick: Loud electric modern day folk rock. Big guitars with more of a Springsteen home grown lyric approach. Real songs about real people.

SMMO: What's better, stage or studio?
Evick: For us, that's hard. Our drummer and I grew up in the studio. They are both different animals. I love to produce and engineer, and I'm a gear head, so we really get to create magic in the studio, but nothing beats the energy of a live show.

SMMO: When the band is at rehearsal, describe the atmosphere.BR> Evick: We play 4 nights a week, so we rarely rehearse. When we do its awful...we hate rehearsal. Our drummer keeps his back to us and we pout the whole time. We like playing for people not in a basement.

SMMO: Do you promote more on the internet, or by "word-of-mouth"?BR> Evick: I'm a big fan of the Internet...it does a lot of good. Nothing will ever beat a verbal endorsement by someone who likes the band, but we don't get out other than our shows much, so I use the Internet as our biggest tool.

SMMO: Are Southern Maryland venues supportive of local bands?
Evick: EVICK plays from California to NYC; we have been to the Virgin Islands and everywhere in between, and our support in SO MD is the best. We have really connected and made some great friends. They are the best in southern MD.

SMMO: What can your band offer the Southern Maryland audiences that other bands don't?
Evick: We are the last existing REAL ROCK AND ROLL BAND. Almost any club that we play for the first time tells us WE HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. We connect with the audience one-on-one. Before you leave our show, you will be our personal friends--EVICK doesn't have fans. We take the party right up till closing time. We aren't trying to shove our message or songs down your throat, we just want to help you forget about the awful day you had at work. We have a Jagermeister sponsorship if that tells you anything.

SMMO: How did the band get its name and how long has the group been around?
Evick: The bands name EVICK, is my last name. I'm a Van Halen fan what can I say? The truth is that my last band suffered some lawsuits due to who owned the band name (when none of the parties fighting for it owned it). So I figure if I call it EVICK, only my father can sue me, and if he does, then that just sucks.

SMMO: Describe your band in one sentence.
Evick: EVICK is the biggest, loudest, drunkest rock and roll party band in America.

SMMO: Most encouraging moment as a band, most discouraging moment.
Evick: Most encouraging: House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, playing with Bret Michaels from Poison and having the crowd really pulling for us. We were on top of the world...unstoppable for 45 minutes. Most discouraging: Flying to L.A. to do one night last year for some folks at Warner Bros. who asked us to come, then they ditched the show because Queens Of The Stone Age popped a surprise last minute show in town and everyone went to that.
