Richie Miller 4-15-02 Career Research For my career research project I chose Computer Hardware Engineer. The duties of the job are research, design, develop, and test computer hardware and supervise its manufacture and installation. The eployment outlook gives favorable job oportunies. Not many advancement opportunies since it is a separate position then any other jobs. Hours all depend on where/who you work for. Annual salary median for 2000 was 67,300. Benefits depend on who you work for, but most should give good insurance/health. Working conditions can be to people's houses at times or in an office. Much equipment is used for the development or hardware. The abilities required are to construct and repair hardware. I will possess some of these skills after taking A+, they can be learned in a trade school or a college. Physical demands are time and energy. Yes, I can take lots of time to work on things. Educational requirements are most likely passing a test and proving yourself worthy of your knowledge. These requirements can be fulfilled by a school. High school subjects to take would be A+, programming, cisco, ACT. Five job values important to me are starting income, self satisfaction, environment, flexibility, and responsibility. Most or all of these values can meet my job of choice pretty good depending on the employer. Four related occupations would be computer programmer, system analyst, graphics engineer, and game programmer. I would be interested in any of these careers as alternatives and willing to learn about them. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos266.htm http://www.bls.gov/oco/cg/cgs010.htm http://www.bls.gov/oco/cg/cgs033.htm
