BIG BROTHER IS GOING TO BE WATCHING YOU!
Kyoto, greenhouse gases, the ozone layer - we've all heard these phrases bandied about in the media, but soon we will all have to account for all the pollution we put into the air.
Whether you like it or not, the European Community has decided that we must reduce our emissions and has targeted the motorist (no surprises there!). While we still want to remain free to drive our vehicles wherever and whenever we desire, we have to expect that it will not be too long before emission testing of vehicles is no longer confined to the annual MOT inspection, but that roadside checks by police or government agency staff will be brought in.
Motor Doc has been closely involved in reducing carbon emissions for over two decades. We have now added even further weapons to our armoury, to ensure that our customers' cars conform to all the required emission standards. We have invested heavily in new Sykes-Pickavant test equipment that ensures that we can now deal with most popular makes of cars fitted with the EOBD (European On-Board Diagnostics) sensoring equipment. This became mandatory on all new petrol engined vehicles on January 1, 2001 and will be extended to diesel vehicles from January 1, 2003. The EOBD system is designed to monitor emissions in nine different modes.

The Motor Doc mobile workshop is now equipped with a Four Line Fault Code Reader and its associated modules for the most common European cars. Using this system a car can be driven and the downloading from the car's
computer can be seen in real time. The actual readings from the engine's
sensors can be seen as they change. Where the system permits, information can be further downloaded into the workshop truck's PC (Laptop) and printed out. This is useful, as a "before and after" print can be generated.
We are now finding that small garages are finding it economic to use our diagnostic services, rather than trying to keep up with what is becoming a fast changing market. Whilst our service could not be described as a magic wand, we are dedicated to solving the problems associated with ailing modern computer controlled vehicles.
Our current range of vehicle specific modules includes:
