Welcome to the first edition of Chippezine

I envisage reader contributions to this ezine. We all have something to say, an opinion, tales about life experiences, humourous, good, bad or indifferent.
There are many out there with artistic abilities to write poems, stories or a unique perspective on a particular issue, whether in current news or past life experiences.
We have skills that maybe we could pass on to other's, tips, about saving money, how to etc. Well, send an Email and it will be considered for inclusion in Chippezine.

Is the free web dying?
By Chippy

An article about internet surfer's and ad blocking software. Read it here! Most of us are aware of the drop in revenue from banner and pop up ad's for many sites, but was this inevitable, were they over inflated prices anyway? What these advertiser's fail to take in to consideration is the annoyance factor! Flashing banner's and pop ups are viewed in the same way as spam, we don't want them.
But, I'm sure we all understand the sites that provide us with free services, software etc, do have costs to meet, Bandwidth, for instance, every time a user views a page it's downloaded to their computer, that cost someone money, especially on a popular site.

I have logged onto sites and immediatly had 10 or more pop ups. To me, that is unacceptable, I don't mind one or two on each page, I may even be tempted to look at what they are trying to sell. (but don't count on it fella's!) More than that and it's testing my patience, if I'm just randomly surfing I'll get out of that site as quickly as possible, so every one loses, me, the advertiser, and the site owner. Where's the logic in that?
ClipArt sites, the more popular ones, I have found, are the worst offenders, so now if I'm looking for clipart, I start around page 20-30 in the search engines!

Now, it seems, some websites are requesting the user to disable ad blocking software, if you object they ask you, please do not enter the site. I wonder how many surfers they are losing because of that?
I guess it's a classic 'catch 22' clause, block the ad's and they get no income to pay expenses, block the users and they don't get any income to pay the expenses. And that user will not tell other people how great the site was, surfer's who might not have ad blocking software! Instead, it will be a double negative outcome.

It's not the ad blocking software that is killing the free net, it's the advertisers!!

Pet food, is it too expensive?

Want to give your precious dog, cat...even budgie, some wholesome, cheaper (?) saliva creating food? Then take the top off your trash can! Well, they seem to enjoy that more than the 'specially prepared' propriety brands, must be the hunting instinct....more likely the scavenging urge.

Anyway, I digress, here's a few recipe's you can mix and cook up for your little treasures...no, no, I mean pets, not children! Go cook!
