To Coaches: Information for the 2005 Howard County XC Invitiational is up. To Everyone: There will be major updates to hocorunning.com throughout the summer. I am hoping to make the page much more interactive, as well as making results more readily available. Also, runner pages will return, so everybody can see what the have done over the course of their running careers. Hope the summer heat treats everyone well!! 5/30/05

Full Results of the State Championship Meet are up. Congratulations to everyone that competed from Howard County. From the field, our county produced many state champions. On the 2A girls side, Alison Smith of Atholton completed the extremely difficult distance sweep, winning to 800 in 2:15, the 1600 in 4:56, and the 3200 in 11:19. Atholton's 4x8 team came from way behind in their race to win in 9:36.54, and Nicole Robinson won the 100 hurdles in 14.99 seconds. With the help of these two girls, Atholton won the 2A girls state championship. Congratulations Atholton girls!!! Also in the 2A classification, Christine Vidmar of Reservoir produced the school's first state championship with a throw of 125-05 in the discus. On the 2A boys side, Howard won the 4x2 with a time of 1:30.43. Glenelg's 4x8 won in triumphant fashion with an 8:08.31. Andrew Revelle of Atholton is the 2A boys 1600m champion with a 4:24.21. In the 3A girls competition, Alyce Harrell won the discus with a throw of 110-02. The only champion on the 3A boys side was Brian Harvey of Centennial, who won the boys 1600m with a county-leading 4:23.05. Great job!

2A South/3A East Results
are now fully up. Congratulations to all state qualifiers!! Also, by tomorrow I will have many pictures up taken by runningmaryland.com. A full list of all qualifiers will also be available tomorrow.

Day 1 Running Events and Day 1 Field Events are now online. The meet will continue Saturday at 10pm. Also, I will have pictures up from the meet shortly. See you all Saturday!

Results are up for the 2005 Howard County Championships. Congrats to Brian Harvey and Alison Smith for finishing with 4 gold medals in distance. In addition, the Girls Long Jump Meet and County records were broken by Tiffany Long of Long Reach with a jump of 18 feet, 8 inches. Congratulations!! Long Reach swept the meet with girls and boys team victories.

Runner pages are almost back! I am working on a new way to update them more frequently, so that is why they have been absent for all of outdoor. In their presence for the moment, however, I have constructed an outdoor database and leaderboards for both boys and girls. Links for the databases are in the left gray box. 5/6/05

One note on the Penn Relays that wasn't mentioned in the last post. Mount Hebron boys placed 2nd in their heat of the 4x4 with a time of 3:34.89. Also, to all seniors! Send in your college choice and we will make a page to list them. Also indicate if you have recieved a scholarship and are going to run!

The Penn Relays this weekend was a great one for Howard County. Performances can be viewed here
. On Thursday, Alison Smith ran the extremely competitive elite mile race in 5:10.71. Glenelg's 4x8 took part, and placed 12th in their heat with a county leading 9:50.61. In the high school girls 4x400, Oakland Mills placed 2nd in their heat, earning them a silver medal, with another county leading time of 4:14.9. On Friday, Oakland Mills boys and Long Reach boys won and placed third, respectively, in their heats of the 4x1. Long Reach ran 44.05, while OM ran 45.35. Also, the Long Reach girls 4x1 qualified for the Championship of America Consolation and ran the first sub 50-second time of the year for HC with a 49.41. On Saturday, two Howard County individuals competed in events. JaNay Woolridge of Long Reach placed 10th in the Long Jump with a jump of 18' 0.25". David Howard of Oakland Mills placed 14th in the Discus with a throw of 138' 10". Finally, 2 teams medaled in the boys 4x4, with Howard placing 2nd in their heat in 3:28.2, Long Reach placing 3rd in their heat with a 3:31.2. Congratulations to you all! On another note, Coaches, you may send in entries for the County Championships here. Entries close at the end of the week.
