In this presentation, we will examine authority within different areas of knowledge: math, human sciences, natural sciences, history, ethics and art. Each will be examined from several angles, and conclusions will be drawn. Authority is obstructed by knowledge as well as enhanced by it. We will attempt to answer a question about authority and its effects on knowledge, and through our examples we will explore both positive and negative effects authority can have on different areas of knowledge.
