The
attack in the night by the Black Knight left the party very hurt. After Meric tends to the party he announces
the party’s condition and suggests that we camp in another location and then
head back to the keep. Leaving Thaer
unconscious but stable the group decides to camp about one mile closer to the
keep. The night goes uneventful and in
the morning Meric decides to further help Thaer by bringing him out of his
unconscious state. A little later Wylaer
sets out on his own, agreeing to meet up with us five days later. His mission to conduct reconnaissance on the
abandoned elven encampment goes uneventful.
He does find human footprints, but no inhabitants.
Meanwhile
on the road back to the keep, Makaus stumbles to the ground and collapses. Unable to be woken up, Meric leans down to
Makaus and lets the goodness in his soul transfer to his friend. This is just another testament to the damage
done by the Black Knight and his undead minions.
At
the keep Makaus and Meric do stuff but they tell me to fuck off because Thaer
is outside the keep and that it doesn’t matter if I write about what happened
with Zineg.
There
was also at least an hour of bitching back and forth about the diamond.
After
a couple of days go by Wylaer returns and informs us of the elven
encampment. We head out a day
later. Back to the caves we go.
The
party agrees on letting Thaer try his powers on the door in Skeltar’s
room. The party readies itself as Thaer
attempts to open the door. The door
opens. Proceeding cautiously Wylaer
sniffs around at the entrance.
“Minotaurs.” We all pull back and
without much discussion we all decided to close the door and try the
Spellcaster’s cave. The Minotaurs
obviously had a significant effect on the group.
Approaching
the Spellcaster’s cave from above, Wylaer again using his nose alerted the
group of a bad smell, one of a large beast.
We moved in and encountered a huge beast. It had a body the size of a bear yet the head
of an eagle.
A
few seconds into the battle a chain on the beast’s leg was spotted and
announced. We all retreated to take aim
with our bows and crossbows. After
dealing heavy damage the beast retreated to the cave. Wylaer moved in to spot. He saw what looked like a rock and with the
advice of Meric he shot at it. It was in
fact the beast and it was soon there after that it fell.
Once
inside we found a room down and to the right.
It was a library where a little girl sat studying. The walls were lined with books and one sat
open. When we moved towards it a face
and hand came out from it. Jumping back
in horror, Thaer decides to close the book with his axe handle. The girl’s name was Arped. Her bratty attitude came out as soon as we
entered the room. Surprised by our
democratic ways she felt the need to comment about how unfit we were for being
rescuers. Thaer had a hard time holding
his axe let alone his tongue. After
interviewing her we felt our best option was to wait for the spellcaster to
come to us.
The
caster did not come right away. Instead
it was a pack of skeletons from down the other hallway. Quick thinking led Makaus to tear through
them with the divine power from his holy symbol. Down the hall we found a few prisoners. After freeing them we returned to the library
in wait of the necromancer.
Here
we waited and eventually he came. Once
he entered we all attacked. Makaus moved
in from behind but was unsuccessful at blocking his exit which led to the
necromancer fleeing down a previously unexplored hallway. Giving chase, we followed him into his living
quarters. As soon as he was there he
cast a spell which sent him into the air.
Floating above his pursuers he casts again. A huge ball of fire shoots from his hands and
engulfs the room. Again the quick
thinking from Makaus saves us. Pulling
out a scroll he reads from it and all is silent. The spellcaster is unable to cast and is
felled by Makaus. The necromancer’s cat
and female companion were then easily taken care of.
After
the battle the elf, Wylaer took to searching the room. A secret door was found and opened. Inside was a very old skeleton wearing
leather armor. It was covered in mold
and had to be burned to kill any toxic spores it held. Following this narrow cavern to its end we
found another secret door.
Through
the door was a room. It was a bath room and
there were two beautiful naked women bathing.
They were quickly quieted and taken back into the secret door against
there will. They turned out to be Lalell
and Acatia, one of which came from Mendel.
Questioning one we get a general layout of the caves further down.
Once
we all agree that further scouting is needed Thaer states that because there is
light he believes that he should go. Confused
looks from everyone are quelled when Thaer casts a spell and then
disappears.
Scouting
through the caves Thaer comes close to an encounter with a female warrior,
Kira. Although she cannot see him she
saw or heard her doorknob move.
After
scouting for about fifteen minutes Thaer returns and reports to the party. We then all decide to rush Nabu’s room.
We
find him in his room and mount an excellent attack on him. Unfortunately he has a trick up his
sleeve. Retreating to a corner he pulled
a vile from his hand and crushed it. As
Makaus watched the liquid run down his arm, Nabu Nasir disappeared. After searching the room we take the slave
girl and retreat to the sanctity of the bath room.
There
we check on our rescued prisoners and drop of the newly found girl. We seem to be healthy enough to continue so
we decide to go to Kira’s room. There
were two rooms there. The right room was
a bedroom for Kira. She wasn’t there. The other room was occupied though. Inside the room there were slabs raised off
the ground. On top of five of these slabs
were the bodies of five people. As Thaer
kept a look out the rest of the party moved in.
Suddenly from the ceiling fell three shadows. Acting quickly Meric swings, but his strike
sailed right threw the shadow. Makaus
again channels the power of his god to repel the shadows. A quick look around finds scenes of life
painted on the sides of the raised slabs.
On the side of one of the empty slabs was what looked like the picture
of one of the girls that we found in the bath room. We decided to leave, but then Wylaer wanted
to search the room. By the time the
group went back in the shadows returned.
“Not worth it” was the decision.
At that moment Thaer yelled down the hall.
“Warrior
Bitch, Warrior bitch” She was down the hall from Thaer, who decided
to go the other way. She began to yell
for the black knight. The group was not
far behind Thaer and they all made it threw the secret door before Kira could
get the attention of the Black Knight.
